About Us
The Department of Human Services (DHS) is an office of the Executive Branch of State Government (as established under Nevada Revised Statutes Ch. 232.290) and is led by a director appointed by the Governor. The director also serves as a member of the Governor’s Cabinet.
DHS is one of the largest departments in state government comprised of four divisions as establishd under NRS 232.320:
- Aging and Disability Services
- Child and Family Services
- Public and Behavioral Health
- Social Services

DHS promotes the health and well-being of Nevadans through the delivery or facilitation of essential services to ensure families are strengthened, public health is protected, and individuals achieve their highest level of self-sufficiency.
