Nevada has enacted Assembly Bill 119 (AB119), the first of its kind in the state, to establish a confidential, non-public, Vulnerable Adult Fatality Review Committee. AB119 outlines Nevada's commitment to proactive adult maltreatment prevention and examination.

The Committee will review deaths relating to adult maltreatment, collaborate across agencies, and recommend systemic changes. Cases are referred through law enforcement, social services, and family members. The Committee's inaugural meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 29.

Robin Tejada, Chief of Adult Protective Services stated, “The Vulnerable Adult Fatality Review Committee will have a positive impact on vulnerable adults in Nevada by working collaboratively to spotlight concerns and work toward appropriate solutions for adult maltreatment.”

The Vulnerable Adult Fatality Review Committee sets a precedent for a comprehensive and collaborative approach to addressing and preventing fatalities within Nevada’s most vulnerable populations.

To report suspected abuse, neglect, isolation, or abandonment of vulnerable adults, 18 years and older, please call or submit a report online:
