Nevada EMS for Children Provides Baby Medical Wraps to Local Agencies
Today, the Nevada Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for Children Program distributed AEGIS baby medical wraps to Northern Nevada ambulance agencies to support safe transport of newborns.
Designed for field use, the wraps equip EMS responders with a vital tool to transport newborns and mothers together while supporting early bonding, body temperature regulation, and crash safety. The wraps were funded by a grant through the Health Resources and Services Administration. From October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025, EMS providers across Nevada responded to 369 in-field deliveries. These findings highlight the importance of supporting EMS agencies with necessary resources like the AEGIS wrap to support safe and immediate care during out-of-hospital births. The product was chosen following a review of data from EMS agencies showing a majority of newborns delivered in the field were hypothermic.
“Ensuring the safe transport of children in emergency situations is a top priority at the Nevada EMS for Children Program,” said Michael Bologlu, EMS for Children program manager. “The introduction of the AEGIS wrapping system represents a significant advancement in pediatric care by offering EMS providers a reliable, easy-to-use solution that enhances both safety and comfort for the mother and newborn during emergency medical transport.”
“The AEGIS wrap system offers crash-tested protection, thermal regulation, and hands-free skin-to-skin support during ambulance transport,” said Bobbie Sullivan, EMS program manager. “It’s not just about safety; it’s about preserving dignity, comfort, and continuity of care from the very first moments of life.”
Earlier this month wraps were provided to emergency transport providers in Clark County.
